Letter from Doc

February 1, 1999

December and January just zipped right by.  Time seems to be slipping away from me but the chores and "work I don't want to do" keeps piling up.  My "To Do" list was getting so long that I finally took scissors and cut off the bottom half.  Mess just seems to follow me.  I need some strong backs with weak minds.  Volunteers?

I spent Christmas alone and it was a bittersweet experience this year.  Melancholy set in while I thought about the good old days and Happiness because I didn't have to do a damn thing on Christmas day.  Sleeping in was the order of the day and Robertos served up some of the best Carne Asada burritos late in the afternoon.  Coffee and television made up the rest of the day.

The passing of 1998 was also a quiet one this year.  Luckily I remained awake to see the dawning of 1999 and hear all of the fireworks and hoopla going on around Ocean Beach.  Parties at the home front were non-existent, so I made it to bed shortly after midnight.

With the new year came a couple of inquiries from some old high school classmates that I haven't seen or heard from in almost forty years.  I was overwhelmed to hear from them via internet e-mail and we have been trying to catch up ever since.  Sue and Lou were good friends and good people back in the high school days and remain the same today.  Both ladies have raised children and are grandparents now.  The fortieth high school homecoming reunion is due in 1999 in Durango, Colorado and I hope I get to attend to get re-acquainted in person with many old friends that will be new-old friends.  Should be many things to talk about after forty years.  Just appearance alone should be a shocker!

Santa came late this year and I finally got a scanner for the computer.  I put up a new category of Pictures on the website and I'm hoping you'll send me pics of your family and events so I can post them in the future.  It's like a new toy for me and I'm sure it's contributing to the lengthening "To Do" list.

Coming up in late February, my niece Dorian Pinner (my sister's youngest child) will be getting married in a castle in North Carolina.  Sounds really exotic.  I don't believe I've ever heard of anyone getting married in a castle, except royalty.  Unfortunately, I won't get to attend but I do hope that my sister, Judy, forwards some pictures so I can post them to this site.

I'm in good health and spirits so until next time---
